Hunt & Gather Beekeeping Experiences

Have you ever been curious about what's actually inside a beehive? Ever wondered what it feels like to be surrounded by thousands of busy bees from inside the safety of a bee-suit?

Well, here's your chance. In 2020 we launched our Hunt and Gather Beekeeping Experiences and they were a huge hit! Experiences take place with us near Raglan, during the summer months while the bees are most active. Here's what some of our customers had to say:

"A magical experience. Hannah and Rory were great hosts; welcoming, friendly and experts on bees and honey. They made us feel at home immediately, provided fabulous food and are really committed to sustainable bee keeping. We learned so much and the opportunity to interact safely with the bees was priceless - an experience we’ll both remember for a long time." - Anita

"An amazing day out that left me wanting to start my own hobby Bee Hive! Hannah is an expert and shared with us her knowledge and stories of their business and Bee Keeping. Great level of personal service that made us feel very welcome and we didn’t want the experience to end. We started by tasting a range of their DELICIOUS honey. Then after a short safety briefing and getting suited up we visited the Bee Hives. Very insightful, answering all our questions and showing us each part of the hive whilst explaining how it all works... we even got to see the Queen! Our experience finished with some afternoon tea, nibbles and the Best Carrot Cake of my life!! This experience is a must-do, we highly recommend it for any visitors to NZ. Thanks for a fun day out!" - Guy

The experience covers a full morning where you will get suited up, visit an apiary, get to have a good look through a beehive and learn loads of fascinating things about bees. We are careful to take our time so that you can take in the whole experience and ask all the questions you have.

A generous morning tea and honey tasting is included and you can expect the experience to take about 3 hours all up.

Whether you are thinking about taking up beekeeping or just curious about what it looks like inside a hive, book yourself or someone you love in for the experience of the summer.

Here's a bit more feedback from our guests:

"Super special experience. Hannah and Rory have a lovely little set up and made you feel welcome and at ease with their bees. Hannah layed a great breakfast tea spread and the tasting prob if the day was very insightful. 10/10 experience and would recommend to everyone!" - Gaby

"Rory and Hannah's beekeeping experience was awesome! They made us feel really welcome and took time teaching us about their history and the hives. We really enjoyed suiting up and getting up close and personal with the bees, we even saw the queen! We were lucky enough to be the only people in the group so we had a great one-on-one experience and I really recommend this to locals and visitors alike. Hannah also baked an INCREDIBLE carrot cake for our afternoon tea which I am still thinking about tbh!" - Laura
